Happy Birthday, Erin

Yesterday was Erins birthday.  This is what I sent her.  From her dad and I.
There is a shimmer that you can see if you click on the picture.  I was at a loss in what to make.  So I asked her what her favorite color is.  She said it depends.  So I said at the moment...  Her answer was blue and green.  So, starting with that, this is what I made.

Love you forever, Erin.

Happy Birthday, Irelyn!

Today Irelyn turns 8!  This is her card.  I used the new Circle Card Thinlits.  It is a flip card.  The xoxo comes with it as does the banner piece it is on.  AND so does the larger scallop.  How fun is that?

This is the flipped side.  There are also some hearts to the right.  I didn't show that part.  I didn't want to share my note and penmanship.  The heart also comes with this thinlits.

Happy, happy day, Irelyn.  I miss you and love you forever.

A Tribute

The words written in the link below are by my daughter Erin.  A beautiful tribute about my dad and his home going that is truly beautiful.  Erin put into words what the rest of us could not express.

My dad

My dad, Will M. Davis is in his final days.  He is a great husband, father, grandfather.  He is a great man of God that loves the Lord God Almighty, his wife, his family and the world.

Stamp Club Sign-Up

It is time for Club Sign-Up!  The summer is flying and we have been working on the house.   I really thought I was going to have a class or two this summer and it just never happened.

Club/Class will be the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  We will take December off.  The first club date will be Tuesday, September 17th at 6:30pm.  If there is interest in a morning Club/Class, that will be the 3rd Thursday at 9:30am.  Club/Class each month is FREE.  Class includes at least 2 projects.  Non club members may attend for a fee of $15.
If there is a group of you and some friends that would like a different night, that could be arranged.
In order to have a club I need at least 6 members.  Email me before September 1 if you would like to be in the Stamp Club.  Please read the Stamp Club Commitment below.  Once sign up is complete I will place you in a month to be hostess.  This is done very scientifically.  Jaclyn draws names out of a container.  Ta-da!
The Stamp Club commitment is as follows.

Stamp club members will attend my monthly class for FREE ($15 value per month).  This class will usually be held the 3rd Tuesday of the month at my house.  It will usually be 2 projects.  If projects are cards, envelopes will be included.  Each member will place an order (minimum of $25 before shipping and tax) each month.  To be fair to all, once you start Club you commit to, at a very minimum, place your monthly orders until the end of the club.  Club will run 6-10 months depending on how many people decide to join.  Here is what everyone needs to do:

1.  Place your order:  Minimum order each month is $25 (before shipping and tax).  Please be prepared to pay for your order by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard at the Monthly Class or any day before.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  You will each be a hostess and get Hostess Benefits one month.

2.  Bring basic supplies.  Please bring with you each time the following:
Catalog (You will receive one FREE), adhesive.  I will try and let you know other items each class that we might need.

3.  Attending the class.  You must RSVP by phone or e-mail each month for class.  I ask that you please let me know either way.  If you are not attending class you MUST drop off your order BEFORE the class meeting!!!  If you do not get your order in and I am unable to reach you that evening, I will order packages of assorted card stock for you.  You will then need to pay in 3 days.

4.  Be the Hostess!  When you are the hostess you will provide the dessert, beverage and paper goods for the meeting.  You also have the option of bringing in outside orders to boost your Hostess Benefits.  You will get a minimum of $25 in FREE merchandise...or more depending on your total orders.

5.  Have FUN stamping and learning new techniques and ideas.

NOTE:  You are always encouraged to sign up friends for our Monthly Class.  The fee for non-club members is $15 each session.

I am looking forward to Club starting back up and having fun stamping!

Raspberries and Pie

The other day I found these on the front porch.  They are from Jack's brother Gordon.  He grows them in his backyard.  I love raspberries.  I love blueberries even more.  And pie.  Do you love pie?  I love pie.  I decided to make a raspberry blueberry pie.
I have made pies all my adult life.  In making the crust I have always used shortening.  I (there are a lot of I's in this post) decided to make this crust with butter.  Holy cow!  I will most likely never make pie crust with shortening ever again.  Ever.  Here is the pie before I put the top crust on.  I have flipped this picture 3 times.  It keeps rotating and won't stay put.  But look at that lovely fruit!

Here it is ready for the oven.  Do you see the left over crust?

Pie crust cookies!  Now I have made pie crust cookies in the past, but never with butter as part of the crust!

You want some, don't you?  They are so good.

Here is the pie!  Seriously, why have I not made pie crust with butter before?

Okay, next post will be back to stamping.  Promise.  I am slowly getting caught back up with that.

Have a great day!

34 Years

Today is my 34th wedding anniversary.  I am married to my love.  And I am truly grateful that God placed this wonderful man into my life.
This is the card that I made for him.  I used Crisp Cantaloupe because it was the color we had in the wedding.  I wanted to mix different textures showing gentle and rough, feminine and masculine and the bringing together of both.

Have a great day!

Flower Shop and More

The stamp set Flower Shop is just wonderful.  And so is Chalk Talk and Sweetly Framed.  My friend Jayne came over to stamp with me.  She was stamping away and I was looking through Pinterest trying to get inspired.  Well, it wasn't working.  These cards took me most of the afternoon because I procrastinated away most of my time until I finally closed my computer and just started.  Then this is what I did.  Well, on the first card Jayne said to use all of the same color (monochromatic) flower.  So I did.  I just love it.

When I stamped the flowers for the above card, I stamped the flowers for the card below at the same time.  I just wanted to put those colors together.
Everything on these cards is a must have.  Oh my!!!  The Very Vintage Buttons are fabulous.  And the Ruffle Stretch Trim is so very fun.  And the Crochet Trim and the Natural Trim Ribbon, well, need I say more?  You have to have those.  And the stamp sets are all lovely.

Have a great day!
Debra

The Designer Series Paper is beautiful and the collage, vintage look is one of my favorites.  And how do you like the watch?  I love how that turned out.

Bokeh Effect

The challenge over on SCS today is Bokeh Effect.  I used some of the new 2013-2015 In-Colors and love how it turned out.  Bokeh is a photography technique that is a blur or an out of focus area of the image. For a stamper this is an easy thing to accomplish.  Take an image and stamp off.  Just use 3-5 colors and you get a beautiful effect.  Bokeh!  Ha.  Anyway, here is my card.

The new colors used here are Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe.  They are just lovely.  I used Shimmery White Card Stock, although it is hard to tell in this photo.  Click on the image and you will see a closer view.

Gift Class

My Gift Class was yesterday.  This all came about because my friend Jayne Stenstrom gave me a post it note holder and pen.  One of my customer friends saw it and wanted to have a class to make it.  So I added a bookmark, gift card holder and a card.

Attendees could choose to punch their scallop circles whatever order they wanted.
They could choose a different sentiment on the card if they desired.
Attendees could also choose the Natural Ribbon, or the Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon for the Gift Card Holder.

This is a somewhat open view.  Using the 2 Tags Die.  Perfect for a gift card.

And here is what I came up with for the Post it Note and Pen Holder.  Again, attendees could choose their own ribbon.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Stippled Blossoms, Blessings from Heaven, A Round Array
Ink:  Rose Red, Old Olive
Card Stock:  Rose Red, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Accessories:  Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon, Natural Ribbon, Mini gel pens, Designer Series Paper, 2 Tags Die, Big Shot, Paper Snips, Simply Scored, Giant Paper Clip, Pinwheel Sizzlit, Scallop Circle Punch

Have a great day!

Whitewash and Gate Fold

For this month's club we made a Whitewash Card and a Gate Fold Card.  My friend Emma Fewkes did this very cool technique that I am calling whitewash.    So cool.  Did I say cool already?  Ha!

Here is a side view.  Another friend, Robin Spinner, is brilliant.  Cut out two of the scalloped ovals.  Score one of them a 1/2 inch from the top.  Attach it to the front oval with sticky strip.  Genius.  A full scallop oval without a fold in it.  LOVE that.  Robin taught me that with the scallop square.  Yay!
This is the Gate Fold Card that we made.  I love blue and red together.  So cheerful.

Recipe Whitewash Card:
Stamps:  Secret Garden, Ciao Baby

March Class

For March we made 3 cards.  Two of them used the Delicate Details Lace Tape.  That stuff is fantastic.

This first card uses the Lace Tape as a stencil.  You just place it on your card stock and sponge the color you want to use over it.  Then you gently pull the Lace Tape off.  It is just beautiful.  After you pull it off your card stock, you put it back on the plastic sheet it comes on.  Wipe it off with a wet paper towel and it is ready for another project.

On this card the Lace Tape was used as part of the card.  It is the same piece that was used to sponge the previous card.  How cool is that!?

This card uses the Pretty Bundle.  This includes the Sent With Love Stamp Set, Sent With Love Designer Series Paper and the Calypso Coral Baker's Twine.  I am in Michigan and have family living in Virginia.  I just had to have it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Jaclyn and I made these Valentine's for her teacher, aides, friends and bus driver at school.  She cranked the Big Shot and punched images.  We had fun!  She also signed her name on the back.

The large shimmery white scalloped heart measures a good size.  5-1/4x4-3/4.  I punched a hole and added white Baker's Twine so that recipients could hang them up.

Have a great day!

2013 Leadership Swap

This is my swap card for Leadership.  I take place every year in an organized swap that Lyssa Zwolanek hosts.  And then I made a few extra and some in a different color.
This is the one for the organized swap.  I have to say that my new favorite item in the new Spring Catalog is the Natural Trim Ribbon.  It is just lovely.

Both cards are the exact same layout.  I just switched out the colors.   The Tea Lace Paper Doilies come white and I brayered them with Crumb Cake Ink.  The Designer Series Paper and Fabric are both called Tea for Two.  The torn fabric!  Love that.
