WANTED

It is apparent that you cannot read on my nametag what was WANTED. One medallion said "Stampin' Good Times" The middle one, "FUN! FOOD! Fellowship!" And the last one, "HYENa's! Splitcoaststampers".

SCSM5 Nametag!

I have had several requests to see my nametag. So here it is. This was so fun to create for SCSM5!!! I started with the letters. I KNEW that I wanted to use Lovely Letters to make my username. To make the Debra Daam below that I used my "handstamped by" stamp and just markered my name and stamped that. I used Shimmery White cs to stamp the letters on. I inked in Bashful Blue and used my Real Red marker to color the filigree part. Then I huffed and stamped. I used my SU circle punches to punch out the letters and also for the Bashful Blue layer. The Scallop Punch was used for the next layer. I then mounted them on a strip of cs before mounting them on the Bashful Blue scallop circle. To make that piece I traced the bottom of a large coffee can on the Bashful Blue. Then I took my Corner Punch and went all around the circle. That is so easy!!! It is the first time I had done that. I used the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel for the background. The 3 medallions (or whatever you call them) on the bottom. I just printed the words I wanted on the computer, printed them out and punched with the circle punch. To add the ribbons I just attached them with the brads from the Pretties Kit. The 3 pieces at the top I punched out with Boho Blossoms on each of the cs colors. I then layered them. Again attached the ribbon with brads from the Pretties Kit. OH and the WANTED from the Wanted set. Because the things listed below that was what I wanted. LOL As I was making this it just kept getting larger!!!!! At one point I almost decided not to do it. But then thought, oh why not. I didn't think originally I would keep it on the whole day! But it stayed on with magnets and really didn't get in the way. So, there you have it. My nametag. And thank you again to all those that voted for me. I had such a blast at SCSM5. I will most definitely need to come next year. WOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!

A BIG thank you to Inque Boutique for donating Stephanie Barnard's Stamp Package! That was my prize for winning the nametag contest.

Canyon post

In the last post the 1st three pictures are of Zion and the last 2 are of Bryce. I can't get the wording to go where I want it to. Sorry about that.

Zion and Bryce Canyons

Both of these canyons were beautiful. You drive through Zion. The drive down into the canyon wound around and went through a tunnel and was precarious at times. I kept telling Jack to slow down. I am sure I drove him nuts. You are also able to take a shuttle into different parts of the canyon that you can't drive to. We took the shuttle and got off and walked to a few areas.

At Bryce Canyon you can go to certain points, or lookouts and can hike below along the rim. We were not able to hike the rim with the wheelchair. That day was yesterday (Tuesday) and cold and windy. REALLY windy. Gusts were up to 40mph.
We are now in California and just outside of SoCal. I get to meet everyone soon!!! YEA!!!!

Grand Canyon Pictures

Here are some pictures back from when we went to the Grand Canyon. We stopped and had a cd made and are able to share that way. Unless you have been to the Grand Canyon you cannot believe how huge it is. And there aren't words as I posted before to really describe it. It is so gorgeous and keeps going and going. I will share tomorrow what we have done the past couple of days.

Grand Canyon

There aren't any words to fully describe the Grand Canyon. It is massive, gorgeous and goes beyond the eye can see. But that doesn't really explain how incredible it really is. Before going to the canyon we watched National Geographic's IMAX movie. At the beginning it says, The Grand Canyon, is it a symphony of nature or the work of God"? It is both. The symphony of nature IS the work of God. We spent the day walking and taking the the glory of that symphony of nature.
Last night we stayed at The CameronTrading Post Hotel Lodge. Our view is of the Little Colorado River in the painted desert. It is absolutely beautiful. www.camerontradingpost.com
We head north today. Have a great day!!!

Hoover Dam is HUGE!!!

We have arrived!!! Silly me forgot the camera cable so I am unable to share any pictures. Our flight out of Kalamazoo was delayed but we made our connecting flight okay and arrived in Las vegas at 10am Pacific time. So we had all day to head out and tour. Hoover Dam is HUGE!!! And so is Lake Mead. Really beautiful. Jaclyn of course had to buy keychains. I found a Chip and Dip Lovers Cookbook in the gift shop there of all places. It is a southwestern cookbook. Looks like some yummy dips in family gatherings in the future. We went on the plant tour and we saw the generators, etc. While we all enjoyed it, Jack did particularly.

Driving from the Hoover Dam to Kingman, Arizona is BARREN. There are mountains and land that is just filled with sage brush, sand and rock. No trees. We have never seen anything like that before. We are in Kingman staying on Route 66. Our bodies are on Michigan time and we were up at 3:30 this morning. We are going to the Grand Canyon today! I am really looking forward to it. Have a great day!!!!

Divine Design - April

The Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge was due yesterday. I am enjoying being a part of this. You can be a part too! You can check it out here. I am so thankful when we come to the Lord that there isn't anything that can separate us from the love of God. What a wonderful gift and promise.
The verses I chose for this month are
Romans 8:38,39.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When I was in high school we sang these verses. Miss Taylor was a wonderful teacher that taught many verses to us that way. I will always remember her.

Piece it together!

Do you know how much fun it is to Paper Piece!? The first time I tried this technique was preparing for last nights class. It is so much fun!!! And easier than I expected! I made a flap card using the template in resources from SCS. It is a great tutorial by Rose Ann. Instead of using a magnet closure I used velcro. And on the inside used 3 mini 3x3 envelopes to tuck whatever inside. Money, gift card, note, picture(s)... One of my club members mentioned a tea bag! There are a lot of things you could put in there! I also looped the ribbon through and tied a knot at the top.

Here is the recipe:
Stamp Set: Pun Fun and the coordinating wheel Sweet Stars.
CS: Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink, WWhite and Spring Fling DSP
Accessories: Punches (non SU), SU Square Punch, Paper Snips, tool kit, Pink grosgrain ribbon, 3x3 envelopes.

Tearing into April!

I have been having so much fun having a club! I had no idea how much I would enjoy planning and creating for this. Last month I used techniques that I had done before. This month I am using techniques I have never done. Today I am showing you Faux Tearing. I pretty much copied what Jami used to create this card because the Paisley background does really well with this technique. Club/Class is tomorrow, if you decide you want to attend and havent contacted me yet, let me know today!!!

Faux Tearing is a fun and quick technique to do. I used the Paisley Background stamp to make the "tearing" look and the Live Your Dream set from the Occasions mini. I used Bashful Blue, Mellow Moss and Whisper White cardstock. I used markers for the main floral image. I highlighted with the lighter markers: Bashful Blue and Mellow Moss and accented with darker markers: Brocade blue and Always Artichoke. But the fun part was creating the faux tearing!!!
