This past Sunday one of our associates preached. Pastor Steve spoke on what happens between our prayer of faith and the rock of testing. The Scripture was Numbers 20:1-13. This is the passage where Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before the Lord. There was no water. None. The Lord spoke to them and told them to take the rod with everyone assembled and talk to the rock and it will bring forth water. Well, Moses did indeed take the rod. However, he hit the rock instead. And TWICE! Somewhere between the prayer of faith and the rock there was an attitude change. And what was the consequence of that. Moses and Aaron would not go into the Promised Land.
Pastor gave us 4 points.
1-NEVER become complacent against the war on sin.
2 Peter 5:8,9
2-NEVER underestimate the deceitfulness of sin.
Our greatest battle is not the war without - it is the war within. We need to walk with the Spirit.
3-NEVER forget there are consequences of sin.
Sin always has consequences. Forgiveness does not take away consequences. Moses asked the Lord several times to be able to go into the promised land. The Lord finally told Moses not to speak of it again. Deuteronomy 4:23-28. Deuteronomy 4:21,22,31 tells us although God is a just God. He is also a merciful God. And Moses did know that.
4-NEVER forget how amazing God's love is.
Psalm 103 Mercy upon mercy.
So, that prompted me to brush up on 1Peter 5:8,9. I want to walk worthy of the Lord. And that is what I am sharing for my Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge. You can join this challenge too. Go here.
These verses say:
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
